The following bang follows: After the withdrawal of the Dutch right-wing populist Geert Wilders of the four-party coalition, the non-party Prime Minister has now thrown the towel and announced new elections.
Schoof announced that he would offer the king’s resignation on Tuesday afternoon. However, he remains in office. The premature urn will probably only be possible in the fall. Until then there is now a risk of political standstill in the Netherlands.
The coalition broke out of a dispute about migration policy. The populist Wilders with his party left PVV because his requirements for a difficult course in the asylum policy were not paid. Millions of Dutch people expected the implementation of a corresponding ten point plan from his party, he emphasized.
Four Party Coalition was unstable from the start
The PVV, the strongest power in parliament since the recent choice, demanded that the boundaries close to all asylum seekers. If necessary, the army had to be used to control the boundaries, Wilders explained a week ago when the plan was presented. Tens of thousands of Syrian refugees must be sent back to their home country and asylum centers must be closed. Moreover, Wilders called for family reunification for recognized refugees and the designation of delinquent people with dual nationality, whereby the Dutch have to be withdrawn.
The four -party coalition was unstable from the start. The NSC center party had strong doubts as to whether the PVV government partner would remain at the Constitution. The Coalition parties NSC and VVD recently criticized the PVV minister of Asylum, Marjolein Faber, who accused them of incompetence.
