Critical votes are increasing for the planned tax legislation of US President Donald Trump. Tech billionaire Elon Musk is now expressed in a particularly sharp way.
A few days after the withdrawal from Washington, Musk places his relationship with Donald Trump with violent criticism of a parade project by the US president.
Musk attacked the tax and expenditure law that was promoted by Trump as “disgusting horror”. He criticized on his online platform X that the plans would increase the “already gigantic” budget deficit and the government debt.
The project, which Trump calls the “Great Beautiful Law”, made it in May as the first conference room with a narrow majority by the House of Representatives. In the Senate, however, different members of the Republican Party of Trump block themselves. They disrupt the planned increase in the upper limit of the debt and want higher cuts on spending.
Cool reaction of the White House
The White House reacted with a shoulder pickup: “The president already knows what Elon Musk thought of this law,” said President spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt. Trump is holding on to it.
With the package it is planned to permanently expand tax reduction from Trump’s first term. This must be the opposite, for example through cuts in social benefits – which is due to the Democrats of Sharp Resistance.
Bernie Sanders: “Musk is right”
The technical billionaire received support from Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders: “Musk is right”, he also wrote X. Sanders that the richest Americans would receive $ 664 million in tax reductions and at the same time $ 290 million would be canceled in the care of the meals of needy.
“I can’t handle it anymore”
Musk had already criticized the law in recent days – but in many more reserved words. Last week he “disappointed” that the Freemium Doge bumped the cutbacks of the government spending he cited. At the same time, he said in an interview from the CBS TV station that he was “something in the term” because he did not criticize the government, but also not all their decisions. Now he initiated his violent criticism with the words: “I’m sorry, but I can’t stand it anymore.”
Musk donated more than $ 250 million for Trump’s election campaign and sometimes became a close confidant of the president. When he withdrew from Washington, he, according to the rule that contracts of external government employees were limited to 130 days a year. In recent months, however, there had already been indications of a weakened influence of Musk in Trump’s environment.
