The German secret service boss Bruno Kahl warned against the underestimate of Vladimir Putin. In the Kremlin there are real plans to attack NATO. To prevent this, the deterrent in the West must be increased.
“We are very safe and also have information proof that Ukraine is only one step on the way to the West,” said BND President-Kahl in the podcast “Table.today”.
“In Moscow there are people who no longer believe that Article 5 of NATO works. And they want to test it.” This article is the heart of the collective defense and regulates the auxiliary obligations in the case of an attack.
“You have to defend that in the beginning”
The purpose of Russian leadership is to extend the sphere of influence to the West. “You want to go back to NATO until the end of the nineties. You want to kick America from Europe and all means is suitable for you,” said Kahl.

Conversations are not very promising at the moment
Negotiations of the West with Russia are currently not promising. “There is not the least indication that Putin has changed something into his thinking, in his aggressive way to want to bring this problem to the end,” said Kahl.
