For the first time, the EU committee has submitted concrete proposals for the 18th sanction package against Russia. The new punitive measures must mainly focus on Russian income from energy sources and the arms industry.
Accordingly, there is a ban on transactions with the North Stream Gas Pipelines and with banks involved in the bypass of sanctions, as Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced Tuesday.
In addition, the Commission proposes to lower the price limit of the G7 countries for Russian crude oil of $ 60 (52.59 euros) per barrel to $ 45. Other ships of the Russian shadow fleet and oil trading company must also be punished with Russian connections.
The earlier economic sanctions had struck Russia hard, said about the Leyen during a press conference in Brussels, so they wanted to sharpen them because Russia had shown that it did not want peace and no real negotiations.

“Russia does not want peace. Russia wants to enforce the law of the stronger,” said the president of the committee, who asked Russia to get the negotiating table with real proposals. “We need a real cease -the fire. This war must be terminated.”
De Leyen also announced that measures in other industriality are sharpening. This should ensure that Russia cannot modernize its weapon systems with the help of Western technology.
