“We do not want to make forts from schools,” the governor emphasizes when founding the State Security Council. Basic Evil is the loneliness on the grid rather than real contacts.
Education director Karl Fritthum still remembers the start of bombing and Amocran threats in Lower Austria in May 2024- as the “Krone” reported. Since then nothing has remained the same – in the current class year alone there were 62 bomb threats against schools throughout the country. Fortunately, none turned out to be a real threat. “They were abstract,” as Frittthum says.
“There is an incredible need for discussion”
With a focus on the murderous Spree with eleven dead in Graz in the previous week, the State Security Council, which was already announced in January, is now formed, which consists of numerous operational organizations and representatives of all political factions with the club status in the state parliament.
Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner takes the chairman of the council. “After the murderous Spree in Graz in Graz there is a lot of discussion with students, parents and teachers. This topic will accompany us for weeks and months – it is very important to answer and talk about the questions,” she says poorly.
“No forts”
“However, we do not want to make forts from the schools. That cannot be the way, apart from the fact that it would be impossible to protect all buildings so well,” says the head of the state that such an action can never be prevented 100 percent. In doing so, she thanks all the parties represented to work constructively here.
“Analogue” against loneliness
It must be absolutely clear to strengthen coexistence and reduce the loneliness of youth by the digital world. “Boys are more and more wired. But we have to promote the community through analogue. Sports, culture and much more. It is important to look and help that you do not lose the connection,” says Mikl-Leitner.
There is an increasing presence of police and psychological care to school. There must also be better networks from the authorities to help boys better and earlier.
