Statements by Pilar Garrido after he was appointed coordinator of Podemos Euskadi

In a telematic press conference, Podemos Euskadi announced the results of the primary process in which Pilar Garrido was elected coordinator.

The new autonomous coordinator of Podemos Euskadi, Pilar Garridohas advocated the creation of a “Basque Citizens’ Movement” which “kick the current political administration” in Euskadi and has warned that “the model represented by Urkullu, Revilla and Feijoo does not represent Basque societyIn his opinion, the will of the Basques goes through the left and must be “reflected in a left-wing government that makes policies that take us out of the crisis in the key of solidarity and social justice”.

“That administration that did not want or know how to change the formations that have taken the political space for the past 40 years. Some because they did not leave the mold of comfort, others because they took a resignation position. We are the political outside the ‘yes can’ and we have come to work together to create this strong Basque citizen movement,” he added.

In a telematic press conference, Podemos Euskadi announced the results of the primary process that the formation went through in recent weeks to renew its leadership and that led to the triumph of Pilar Garrido’s candidacy.

In this way, the deputy of United We Can for Gipuzkoa was also elected as the new regional coordinator with 84% of the vote (1,371), compared to the other candidate, María Luisa Gadea, who had only 15.9% of the vote (260 ).

The winning candidacy, dubbed “Zubiak,” presented a list to the Autonomous Citizen Council that included Irun’s city spokesman David Soto, former Biscayan juntera Asun Merinero and Lehendakari’s candidate Miren Gorrotxategi.

In her speech, the new Regional Coordinator thanked the fighting spirit for their participation and chose a “stronger and more inclusive Podemos Ahal Dugu, where all people have their place”.
