NATO TOODING OF FINLAND is now about two years. According to media reports, Russia is currently working on strengthening its military presence near the Russian-Finnish border.
The Finnish radio broadcaster Yle now illustrated new satellite photos that Russia started in Kandalakscha in the Murmansk -Oblast with extensive construction work for a garrison for a artillery group.
This is the first concrete sign of a permanent increase in the number of soldiers at the border, the station reported. The local authorities in Murmansk therefore stated that about 150 kilometers east of the border is building a new military city and renovating older residential buildings. According to Yle, the recordings also show changes in other Russian military locations near the border.
Tent camp for thousands of soldiers
The Swedish radio broadcaster SVT has recently evaluated satellite images that have to show the first signs of a few Russian armament near the border with Finland. In Petrosawodsk about 175 kilometers from the border, the Russian army has so far built three warehouses, for example, each of which has room for a maximum of 50 armored vehicles. In the military base of Kamma it is said that a tent camp was built for a few thousand soldiers, and the Sewomorsk-2-air base concluded in 1998 would also be under construction.
However, it became clear from the material that the Russian activity has not been compared to those who had taken place on the Russian-Ukrainian border before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The “New York Times” recently reported, referring to NATO sources that this was not comparable to the Troop mars before the Russian invasion in February 2022.
