Lands on choice
After his detention, his wife Swetlana had placed his place and the president had challenged as a candidate. Despite massive accusations of fraud, Lukaschenko was officially declared the winner after the elections in August 2020.

This caused unprecedented mass protests. They were violently depressed, thousands of government critics were arrested or fled in exile. Swetlana Tachanowskaya also fled her home country and fighted tirelessly from exile for democracy in Wit -Russia, Lukaschko and for the release of her husband.

His wife Swetlana Tachanowskaya released a video of her smiling husband on Saturday, who hugged her after his release. She wrote: “My husband Sergej is free! It’s hard to describe the joy in my heart.”

US Special Envoy met Lukaschenko
Earlier, Kellogg, the American special envoy for Ukraine, met the Wit -Russian ruler Alexander Lukaschenko on Saturday. “The constant care we have are concerned about a crisis that can escalate and grow if we do not approach them carefully and wise,” Kellogg said on a video that the State of the State press agency has published. The official negotiations between Kiev and Moscow had been the official event for the conversation at the end of the war in Ukraine.

Lukaschko is considered a narrow ally of Kremlin Chief Vladimir Putin. Kellogg is the highest American politician who has visited Minsk in recent years. Many Western countries have recognized Lukaschenko since the controversial elections in 2020, when he declared himself the winner and beched bloody in mass protests, no longer indicated by Wit -Russia as a legally elected president.

Series sanctions against White -Russia
Due to the ruthless approach to Lukaschko of the opposition and because of his support for the Russian aggression war in Ukraine, the West imposed a number of sanctions against White -Russia.

Since 1994, Lukaschko is ruling the Eastern European country with an iron hand. In January he was again voted president – it is his seventh term of office. Lukaschko is a narrow ally and in favor of Russian President Vladimir Putin. His country depends politically and economically on Russia.
