Kickl under time pressure – Hofburg election campaign: where is the FPÖ candidate hiding?

Date:

The FPÖ Hofburg candidate Walter Rosenkranz is currently on vacation instead of an intensive campaign. However, experts do not believe that – a campaign has to be designed quickly. Party leader Herbert Kickl is under time pressure.

No sooner was he there than he is gone again. A week ago, FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl presented Ombudsman Walter Rosenkranz as the blue candidate for the federal presidential election on October 6.

Rosencrantz needs to raise awareness
Rosencrantz, the unknown candidate, should actually start a “catch up” against incumbent Alexander Van der Bellen to raise his profile. Especially if Rosencrantz wants to continue working as a people’s lawyer, he must use every minute for the election campaign.

Only two weeks left for a poster campaign
There is nothing to notice: no appearances since the presentation, only one interview with the Austria Press Agency, which was not reflected in the media. The first interviews will not be available until August 1, according to his spokesman for the “Krone”. Officially, Rosencrantz is now on vacation.

Van der Bellen omnipresent
Van der Bellen, on the other hand, is ubiquitous through the festival openings in Bregenz and Salzburg – making perfect use of the stage. Rosencrantz may be giving himself a short break from the election campaign – after all, he’s celebrating his 60th birthday these days. It’s always unusual. Because industry insiders who have led election campaigns several times do not believe this FPÖ story. On the contrary, an election campaign must now be launched at lightning speed. “It’s a race against time. If the FPÖ wants to start a large-scale poster campaign in early September, all topics must go to the press within two weeks at the latest,” said Stefan Sengl, who led Heinz Fischer’s 2010 election campaign. In this regard, Sengl can’t imagine Rosencrantz taking a two-week vacation just like that.

Kickl under pressure: must design election campaign
Shooting should be completed in the next two weeks. In addition, campaign videos must be created and TV formats prepared. “You need the candidate for that,” says Sengl. Kickl is also under pressure. Because Gerald Grosz is considered the candidate who could cost the blue many votes. If Grosz achieves a double-digit result without a three million budget, things could be turbulent for Kickl in the FPÖ.
