Karasatorre has acknowledged that the situation has “improved significantly” for the detainees and their families, but has denounced that 11 years after the end of ETAthe Spanish and French governments continue to maintain an “exceptional, anachronistic and vengeful prison policy” and “ignore the decision of Basque society to face the future”, as “it prefers to please the vengeful immobility of some sectors of the judiciary, politicians , media and associations of some victims”.

“The Basque society cannot be condemned to indefinitely postpone the resolution and the building of coexistence,” he concluded.
