The most exciting course of the Jairis

Date:

The Alcantarilla team is preparing its debut in the Endesa League with eight new players; only Alejandra Sánchez, Rebeca Cotano and Erika de Souza are still under the command of Lucas Fernández

August 23, 2022 is a date that will remain etched in the history of Hozono Global Jairis. This is the day the sewer team kicked off their first entry into the highest tier of women’s basketball: the Endesa Women’s League.

The preparation of the season for Lucas Fernández’s players started in the facilities of the sports medical center Helpia to end later with the relevant medical examinations. The basketball players will wear shorts for the first time today to train on the field.

Despite retaining the fundamental pieces from the past promotion, the Jairista coach has eight new players. And it is that only Alejandra Sánchez, Rebeca Cotano and Brazil’s Erika de Souza will remain in the Murcia squad, after yesterday’s transfer of Izabella Sangalli to Córdoba from the Women’s Challenge League and the termination of Bea Royo’s contract , who did not participate in Lucas Fernández’s plans. “You have to use this preparation time to get to know the players even better. That gives us the opportunity to see how far we can go as a group,” the Calzada de Calatrava (Ciudad Real) technician told LA TRUTH yesterday.

Fernández added that this pre-season, during which the team will play several friendlies before the season, will serve to check if the squad is heading in the same direction. The coach of Castiliaans-Manchego also made it clear that he wants to work with the new players. “I’ve shared a team with some of the new signings and I know many of them from competing in the Endesa Women’s League. We looked for people with experience in the category, people with a high level of daily work and dedication and adaptation to the place and club they are in.

After the first contact, and with the illusion surfacing at the Alcantarilla club, the Hozono Global Jairis coach yesterday alluded to common sense in long-term goals. “I dare not set a target and I think all coaches are careful and we usually act with enough common sense. First you have to see the team. Still, I think Jairis will have a good balance and be a team that can compete. From there we will see how we perform in the competition.

A priori, thanks to the board and its coach, the Hozono Global Jairis has managed to bring together a group of players with extensive experience in the category, enhanced by the exciting youth of signings such as American Ellie Mack. This center, which will share a position with Tamara Seda and Erika de Souza, ends up in college-league Spanish basketball in her country, where she averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in Oregon State. She is an agile player, with arrival and a great bounce thanks to her height of 1.91 meters.

In Alcantarilla, they have their sights set on the first week of October, when Hozono Global Jairis will make history in La Seu d’Urgell (Lérida) by playing their first official game of the championship against Cadí La Seu. But before this marked date in the calendar of all Jairista fans, Lucas Fernández’s girls will have to play a maximum of six friendlies. The first is next on September 10 against CAB Estepona.

The next four rivals will be teams that will be measured in the Endesa League. For example, he will visit Ciudad Real to take on the current champion, Perfumerías Avenida, who will arrive after being crowned champion for the eighth time in its history. For the Ciudad de Alcantarilla Trophy he will play against Valencia Basket, he will face Ficken Claret. The Murcian team closes the preseason against Innova-tsn Leganés and Movistar Estudiantes.
