The Scottish mountain biking champion died of a heart attack aged 37

Rabbi Wardellrecently crowned last weekend as the champion of Scotland of mountain biking, died of cardiac arrest, age 37, his partner reported this Wednesday on social networks, Katie ArchibaldBritish Olympic track cycling medalist.

The athlete told in an emotional publication on Twitter how he tried to revive his partner. “He went into cardiac arrest when we were in bed. I tried and tried and the paramedics came within minutes but his heart stopped and there was nothing they could do to bring him back.”he explained.

Wardell, who died on Tuesday morning, won the Scottish MTB championship on Sunday in Dunfries and Galloway.

“We send our love and support to his family, friends, and everyone in our community who knew him. We ask that you respect the privacy of Rab’s family during this incredibly sad time,” said of the Scottish Cycling Federation in a statement.
