Spanish soccer coach Raul Caneda will take the reins of the Greek team Aris after the club is sacked German “El Mono” Burgosformer player of Atletico Madrid.
Caneda, who is an external analyst for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, has agreed a two-year contract with Aris, according to Greek media reports.
The 53-year-old coach began his career as an assistant coach of Juanma Lillo, with whom he worked in Dorados de Sinaloa (Mexico), the Royal Society and Almería.
His experience as a head coach was gained in Saudi Arabia; first at Al Ittihad, where he went on a 25 game unbeaten streak, and then at Al Nassr, where he worked with the current coach of Olymiacos Carlos Corberanand with Umm Shalal.
Espanyol, without a team since September 2020, arrived at Aris after being eliminated in the preliminary round of the Conference League and after a 3-1 defeat against Panetolikos in the Greek Super League, which is why the club fired “El Mono” Burgos, according to Greek media.
Since it was founded in 1914, Aris has won 3 championships and a Greek Cup (although before 1970), and last year they finished third behind Olympiacos and PAOK.
