The podium was completed by George Russel and Charles Leclerc, Hamilton eventually finished in fourth place, ahead of the Mexican Sergio Pérez, second in the standings and again stepping away from the battle for the title which, apart from surprise, should not escape Max. Verstappen, who seems to have no rival.
It was not the best afternoon for the Spaniards, Fernando Alonso crossed the finish line in sixth place, while Carlos Sainz, who received a five-second penalty for an ‘unsafe release’ from the box, finished the race in eighth.
