The Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro, The 33-year-old former World No. 3 says he still wants to “get back on tour”, seven months after his last fight marked his return after a three-year absence due to a serious knee injury.
“If I improve, I want to try to get back on the circuit,” del Potro told the sports channel on Thursday. ESPN in the United States, where he attended the US Open as a guest.
“This is my place, I feel like this is my place. When I made the decision to come here, a thousand things went through my mind. I feel, I’m still a tennis player. It’s like I’m not a former player, I. Don’ t feel like doing things like former players. He broke the patella of his right knee during the Shanghai Masters 1000 in 2018 and underwent four operations, the last in 2021.
