Bologna sinks Fiorentina

Date:

Fiorentina are without a win in Serie A for the fifth day in a row, this time against a Bologna who had to recover from a goal conceded, in what was the first game of the post-Sinisa Mihajlovic era, who was dismissed on Tuesday, which equals six points to the ‘Fiore’ in the middle of the table.

The ‘viola’ team only knew victory against Cremonese, when they got it on the first day, in mid-August. Since then the balance is two losses and three draws in Serie A, and two draws in the Europa League. Sad for a team looking to compete in Europe.

The Italian men faced a Bologna in almost the same conditions, with an urgent need to score, but destabilized after the dismissal of the Serbian Sinisa Mihajlovic, the first in Serie A.

‘Fiore’ took the lead through Argentine Lucas Martinez-Quarta at the start of the second half, but it came to naught with less than five minutes gone. Poor defensive work has reappeared in a team that also struggles to be decisive in front, where the Serbian Luka Jovic as a reference is still not key.

Gambian Musa Barrow equalized and dampened the visitors’ euphoria, preparing for disaster. Three minutes after the tie the usual appeared in Bologna. The Austrian Marko Arnautovic did not miss his appointment in goal, six in six games, and gave his team the victory to place 12th.

In just eight minutes, ‘Fiore’ threw her advantage overboard and gave up the fight. With this defeat, Vincenzo Italiano’s men remain eleventh, mired in a crisis of play and results in both Serie A and European competitions, a calendar that seems to demand more than the Florentine can provide.
