The next edition of Volta Ciclista a Catalunyawhich will be the 102nd and will run from March 20 to 26 next year, will have one of its excursions in the town of Olostas announced on Wednesday by the organization.
The eighteen best teams in the world (Uci Worldteams) and seven invited teams from the UCI ProTeams category participated in the test.
Olost is located in the province of Barcelonaa, about one hundred kilometers north of the capital, and south of the plateau of Lluçanès.
“It’s always good news that a new town opens as the beginning or end of a phase. In this case, Olost will be a perfect setting for the start,” said Volta’s president, Rubèn Peris.
The mayor of Olost, Josep Mª Freixanet i Mayans, sees the departure of the Volta as “a great opportunity” for the area and “a realization that rural towns” can organize “extraordinary events”.
The last winner of the Volta was the Colombian Sergio Higuita (Bora-Hansgrohe). He was joined on the podium by Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (INEOS) and Portuguese Joao Almeida (UAE Team).
In its last edition, La Volta had more than 11.5 million unique viewers on Eurosport and could be followed in 190 countries through 25 international broadcasters.
