Matt Fitzpatrickwith ‘great’ to his credit after winning the US Open in June, will defend the title of Estrella Damm NA Andalusia Masters in Real Club Valderrama (San Roque, Cadiz) from October 13 to 16. Last year the English player recovered from a three-shot deficit on the historic Sotogrande urbanization course and finished the tournament with a brilliant bogey-free round of 69 to claim the seventh of his eight DP titles World Tour.
The two-time European Ryder Cup team member claimed his first DP World Tour win in 2015 as a rookie, and added to his impressive haul this June by winning the US Open at The Country Club in Boston. In addition to this Grand Slam victory, he has amassed another ten top tens on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, including second place at the Italian Open last week.
“I had a great season and, without a doubt, the icing on the cake was the US Open. However, there is still a lot to play for, especially now that the race for Ryder Cup points has started, and I look forward to another good week in Sotogrande”, the British golfer told the organizers.
In the next few days, the tournament expects to announce new players.
