No player is bigger than the club, says Glentoran president Mick McDermott as Robbie McDermott approaches the exit door of the oval.
McDead, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been linked with a move to the Linfield summer derby.
Reports emerged in the press last week that the 25-year-old, who has scored 71 goals in 177 appearances for clubs, was recently told that he is training independently.
Asked about Glentoran’s YouTube update, McDermott said: “I rarely talk about individual players because for me it is a team and the team is the main thing. The team is the most important.
“Since the day I came here, if any player doesn’t want to be part of Glentoran, let’s move on.
We are Glentoran Football Club, we will move and if any player wants to move to another club so be it.
McDaid, who has scored 10 goals in every game this season, was not in McDermott’s squad after leaving the last Glentoran League with a 6-2 win over Carrick Rangers.
His most recent goals with the top two giants came two months ago when he won the Ireland Cup 4-0 at Queen’s University at The Dub.
Glentoran, who finished third in the Danske Bank Premier, returned to the league on Saturday when they greeted the Crusaders at the BetMcLean Oval.
Merseyside’s men are four points behind second-placed Cliftonville and five behind leaders Linfield with five games remaining.
