The General Council of the Court confirms that it will publish a report on the Trans Law on 20 April

Date:

With a delay of more than three months, the General Council of the Court (CGPJ) will receive a report at the plenary session on April 20 on the so-called On a trans law that will allow the process to continue. This was confirmed by the body itself in a written letter sent to the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Trans and Bisexuals (FELGTB), Fundación Triángulo y Chrysallis, who had recently criticized the delay in issuing its mandatory conclusion.

The groups sent a letter to the CGPJ a few weeks ago expressing concern and reassuring that the delay “has material consequences for the lives of LGBT people” and “prolongs their vulnerability”. In response, the body clarifies that an extraordinary plenary session will be considered and voted on after the resurrection, and that a draft report prepared by the appointed speakers will be prepared by Maria Victoria Cinto Lapuente, Wenslao Francisco Olea Godoy, Maria Angela Carmara Vergara and Maria Angella. CGPJ President Carlos Lesmes has already announced the date a few days ago.

The notion that the body is obliged to prepare a bill to guarantee real and effective equality for trans people and the rights of LGBT people comes months later. The Norma Council of Ministers coincided with the LGTBI Pride in June last year and the government sent it to the CGPJ in December. He did it in a hurry, which means he had a 15-day deadline that was far exceeded. Delay on which the body has applied a load.

The approval of the project followed a serious dispute between Irene Montero’s Ministry of Equality and the Ministry of Justice and the First Vice President of the Government, then in the hands of Carmen Calvo. The norm was blocked for months, and negotiations continued until final recognition of gender self-determination was finally opposed, which the PSOE initially opposed, and the introduction of a requirement that those who change their DNIs confirm the decision three months later.

The body that did not accumulate the delays is the Economic and Social Council, which, according to Europe Press, described the text as “positive” and described the “depathologisation” of the trans-society as “excellent progress” and, consequently, “self-government”. Defining Gender Identity ”means that they can change their name and legal gender without medical treatment and psychological counseling.
