Egypt decided to rest Salah

Date:

Egypt decided to rest Mohamed Salah, who will not play this Tuesday’s friendly against Liberia and will return to Liverpool’s discipline. This was announced by the current coach of the ‘Pharaohs’, Rui Vitoria, who replaced the dismissed Ehab Galal in July (two months after he replaced Carlos Queiroz).

Liverpool’s Egyptian winger, 30, scored a brace on Friday in his team’s friendly against Niger (3-0) and Rui Vitoria preferred to leave him in this rehearsal against Liberia, which will take place in Alexandria. Egypt’s new coach also lost striker Mostafa Mohamed and defender Ahmed Fatouh.

It should be noted that Egypt will not participate in the 2022 Qatar World Cup after being eliminated on penalties in the playoffs in March by Sadio Mané’s Senegal, who also beat the ‘Pharaohs’ in the African Cup final on penalties in February. Egypt has participated in three World Cups, in 1934, 1990 and 2018.

Liverpool, starring in a complicated start to the season, will face Brighton this Saturday, October 1 at Anfield and in matchday 3 of the Champions League they will host Rangers on day 4 (after losing 4-1 against Napoli and winning 2–1 against Ajax). In the Premier, the ‘reds’ are eighth, 8 points behind leaders Arsenal and have a game in hand.
