Ramires announced his retirement after two years without playing

Date:

Just two days after John Obi MIkel announced his retirement, another former Chelsea player has also hung up his boots. This is Ramires, who at 35 years old shared his decision through Instagram.

International in 52 matches for the Brazilian team and a participant in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, he has played his career mainly in the ranks of Chelsea. With the ‘blues’ he won the Champions League in 2012, the Europa League in 2013, the Premier League in 2015 as well as the FA Cup in 2012 and the League Cup in 2015.

He debuted as a professional with Brazilian Joinville (2006-2007) before moving to Cruzeiro (2007-2009). From there he jumped to Europe in the hands of Benfica, where he played one season (2009-2010) and won the League and the Cup.

Ramires defended the Chelsea shirt from 2010 until January 2016, when he moved to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning. In 2019 he signed up with Palmeiras, where in a year and a half he won the Brazil Cup, the Paulista Championship and the Copa Libertadores in 2020. He has been without a team for two years.

});

“After a few hours of reflection, I would like to announce that I have decided to officially end my career as a professional soccer player,” Ramires wrote in his Instagram post, concluding: “Thanks to everyone, soccer! “
