The Canadian has yet to lose a set at the South Korean tournament, an ATP 250 on hard surfaces, and his victory in the final could mean a second title on his record, after the one won in Stockholm in 2019. For the Japanese player this will also be his second title, since he won in 2018 in Shenzhen (China).
Both players are left-handed and in their only previous match, in Shenzhen in 2018, Nishioka won 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-5.
