A massive Napoli crush Ajax in a historic ‘set’

Date:

Ajax-Naples brings to mind two of the best players in the history of football, Johan Cruyff and Diego Armando Maradona, who gave both clubs great days of glory.

But today in the stadium that bears the name of the Dutch legend, Napoli handed Ajax the biggest defeat in their European history (1-6) and extended their extraordinary start to the season. Top of Champions League group A with 9 points from 9 ahead of Liverpool (6) and Ajax (3). Luciano Spalletti’s team chained thrashing after thrashing after a 4-1 win against Liverpool and a 0-3 win against Rangers. In addition, he also leads the Serie A.

The game did not disappoint from the beginning, as expected it was a battle between two blocks with a clear offensive vocation, although Napoli was more stable and strong to press the fragile Dutch defense again and again.

Ajax opened the scoring

And that Ajax opened the scoring in the 9th minute of the game through Mohammed Kudus, who, in the goal, was shot by Kenneth Taylor who missed the goal bounced off his leg.

But Napoli were soon tied with the continuum of blows that had been part of the first half. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was on the alert after quarter of an hour when a threaded shot from outside the area went millimeters wide of goalkeeper Remko Pasveer’s goal after Jurrien Timber was beaten. This is the first of the gifts from the local defense.

Raspadori draws on the board

Seconds later, Napoli equalized with a great team move that started with central defender Min-jae Kim stealing in midfield and Giacomo Raspadori finishing with a plastic header from Mathías Olivera’s cross to the far post ( 17′).

Ajax kept the pulse in attack but bled defensively by conceding 1-2 to Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who headed into the net unopposed from a short corner that was crossed by Kvaratskhelia (33′).

In the final third of the first half, Napoli showed themselves to be far superior to a rival touched by that second goal. Piotr Zielinski made it 1-3 by finishing a great pass from Hirving Lozano from the right (33′) that came from behind into the hands of Pasveer.

Zielinski scored a third before the break

Ajax made the Neapolitan game difficult in this first half with their pressure, but whenever Luciano Spalletti’s men broke through, Alfred Shreuder’s defense was left exposed. This was the case before the break, Raspadori held off a central defender in the middle, held Andre Zambo Anguissa short and the latter held Zielinski deep, who ran across the field alone and beat Pasveer.

Another gift gives way to 1-4

After the break, Ajax fans waited for their team’s reaction, but they attended another gift, this time from Pasveer with a very dangerous loan. Zambo Anguissa made a steal on the edge of the area, passed it to Rapadori, who made it 1-4 (47′).

A goal that led to Ajax surrendering but Naples did not comply. Kvaratskhelia, the great revelation of the season, confirmed his quality at 1-5 by completing a wall at Raspadori with a cross shot (62′).

Roja to Tadic and Simeone made it 1-6

Dusan Tadic, now overlooked, left Ajax inferior in the last quarter of an hour when he saw a second yellow card for a slap on Eljif Elmas. Spalletti gave the new men a chance and two of them made the historic 1-6, the feat of Gio Simeone playing before Pasveer departed after an assist from a Tanguy Ndombélé left him behind.
