Roberto Bautista achieved his passage to the quarterfinals of the Astana tournament this Wednesday. The man from Castellón, who in his debut defeated the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, defeated Russian Pavel Kotov 6-1, 7-6 (5) in a duel in which he dominated the first set, but in which he had to suffer to overcome the break achieved by the Russian at the beginning of the second set.
Bautista immediately flipped the coin and, with each player asserting their serve, went to a tiebreak, where the Spaniard went from a favorable 3-0 to a bad 4-5, to close the match winning the last three straight points.
His opponent in the quarterfinals, next Friday, the winner of the match between Daniil Medvedev and Emil Ruusuvuori.
Another one of the quarterfinal matches will be played by Andrey Rublevwho defeated Zhizhen Zhang 6-3, 6-2 and Adrian Mannarinowho cut off Carlos Alcaraz’s executioner, David Goffin, after defeating him in a tough match (3-6, 6-1, 7-5).
