Benabbou’s gold capped a great Spanish premiere at the European 50K

Benabbou’s success was resounding. He escaped before km 35 and in the next five he decided on the race. He reached 40 with one minute and 39 seconds ahead of Puyuelo, champion of Spain in the 50 K in 2021. The Aragonese was beaten by most of the British team, where he managed to stand close to the finish line.

Carles Montllor, fourteenth with 3:00:36, was the third Spaniard to score for group classification. Javier Martinez, 16th, Daniel Hernando, 31st, and Severino Felipe, 38th, completed the men’s participation.
