A compact and balanced block to try not to get into trouble

El Palmar CF-EG. The team, which provided permanence at the last minute, faces a new season in the Third Division with renewed hope

This campaign El Palmar CF-EF faces a new season in the Third RFEF after saving the category in extremis on the last day against Ciudad de Murcia. In the end, the goal was achieved and the red team achieved the desired continuity in a very close competition where every little detail can determine the fate of a team.

El Palmar managed to turn the tables in a very complicated situation, after taking on Calata as head of the bank over the winter. The team was back on track. With the homework done and the permanence in hand, the board decided in the summer to trust the new coach again for a season that seems complicated by the equality and high level shown by all rivals.

The team faces a new campaign in the Third Division after making a total of ten additions, preserving a key player block from last season. The goalkeeper Alberto Hortal continues; the experienced defense Capi; Sam Philip, fast left winger; midfielder Rubén Macanas, key in the second round; Álvaro Marín, a side with a lot of experience in the category; midfielder Salinas, midfielder Pelayo; strikers Carlos Rodríguez, the team’s top scorer last season with 13 goals, and Diego Sánchez or Álvaro Quintana, who will continue as captain and add his twelfth season with the club.

Among the novelties are those of goalkeeper Pedro Mendoza (El Roldán), defenders Párraga (El Raal) and Sergio Martínez (CD Bullense); midfielders Viti (Ciudad de Murcia), Carlos (Racing Murcia) and Chema Castañer (CD Eldense); or strikers Álex Belmonte (CD Bullense) and Carlos Álvarez (CD Bullense).

With Calata on the bench, El Palmar restored an intense and competitive style of play, a dominant team when it came to possession and strong pressing to get the ball back quickly.

El Palmar has revamped the facilities this year, something the club has long been asking for and will be an incentive for home games. ‘El Poli’ once again has the invaluable help of a loyal fan base, who always push from the stands and play an important role in home games.

So far, the season has started somewhat unevenly, with an important win over Molinense (1-3) and dropped by promotion candidates such as Águilas (1-0), Lorca Deportiva (2-3) or La Unión. 2), so it’s still early to know what the real performance of the team is.
