The International Youth Boxam Benidorm 2022which had the participation of 10 countries, has been a good touch test for the Spanish team that is preparing for November World Championships in La Nucia.
12 members of the Spanish national team met in the finals, played in Oscar Esplá Auditoriumnext to city hall. Of these 12, three women and two men won gold. Among the girls, and one of the most important names is missing (Laura Carrascowho is finishing her recovery from an injury), two other women who have concentrated since this year on CAR of Los Alcázares (Murcia): Iratxe Valls (-52 kg) and Luna María Mairena (-54 kg).
Valls beat an old acquaintance and current European champion, the Frenchman Kalya Mopin. The third gold for Spain among women was achieved by a surprising María Horche, who eliminated another Brazilian athlete, Raphael Silva.
Among men, two are gold. Rafael Lozano (-48kg)dominated his countrymen Daniel Iniguez. Lozano has won three matches this week, showing a good level. His concentration partner in the national team, Henry Kakulov (-63.50 kg)also climbed to the top of the podium, after beating the Brazilian Herbert Soares by split decision.
In women’s, two other countries took gold: Finland and France. Among men, Italy (3), Puerto Rico (3), France (2) and Brazil (1) did it.
Parts of the national team, in full preparation, will now attend thes Spanish Youth Category Championships Y Juniorcompetition that starts next Monday at Crevillent (Alicante).
In addition, this Wednesday will start the Women’s European Championships.
