Manchester City was chosen as the best club of the year at the Ballon d’Or gala. Champions of the Premier League in four of the last five seasons, the ‘citizens’ have overtaken Liverpool and Real in France Football magazine’s vote Madrid, runners-up and champions respectively of the Champions League.
The city was represented at the Teatro du Châtelet in Paris, the scene of the Ballon d’Or gala, by its executive director Ferran Soriano, its director of football Txiki Begiristain, its great figure Kevin de Bruyne and the goalkeeper Ederson Moraes. The big absentee is coach Pep Guardiola.

Soriano, Begiristain, De Bruyne and Ederson took to the stage to accept the trophy and share with the audience their explanations for the success of City, who won the Premier League last season beating Liverpool, who in turn won the FA Cup and Copa ng Liga by defeating the ‘citizens’ in both competitions, in addition to losing the Champions League final against Real Madrid. The white club was voted the third best of the year despite also winning LaLiga.
