The third edition of ‘Andalusia Rally’fourth and final valid test for World Rally Championship ‘Cross Country’ of the FIA and FIM, will be held from this Wednesday to Sunday with the titles at stake in cars and motorcycles and the participation of pilots of the stature of the French sebastien loeb (Bahrain Raid Xtreme).
Starting from the city of Dos Hermanas (Seville), epicenter of the five stages, this is the only test that will take place in Europe of the FIA-FIM world competition, after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan and Morocco.
In the car category, Loebnine-time World Touring Car Champion, is second in the standings with 122 points, behind the leader, the Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota Gazoo Racing), three-time winner of the Dakar Rally and with 144 points at the top of the general classification.
In the T3 category, the Chilean Francisco ‘Chaleco’ Lopez added 182 points ahead of the Spaniards Cristina Gutierrezdefending champion and contender with 154.
In motorcycles, the British sam sunderland (GasGas Factory Racing), two-time winner of the Dakar, has 74 points in the first position of the qualifying table, with the Chilean as the main challenger to dethrone him Paul Quintanilla (Monster Energy Honda), with 52 and two-time world champion of ‘Cross Country’.
The Rally of Andalusia will have 2,078 kilometers of route, 1,175 of which are timed sections in the third edition that for the first time does not have the province of Cádiz as the main venue, since in the two previous editions the headquarters was Villamartín ( Cádiz).
The first stage (1A) is scheduled between Dos Hermanas and this same Sevillian town with a 12-kilometer route, with the Great Hippodrome of Andalusia as the center of operations throughout the championship.
On Thursday, stage 1B is scheduled for the southern mountains of Seville, over 315 kilometers; and on Friday the second stage in Malaga, with a route through the valley of Gualdalhorce and the region of Antequera, more than 228 clocked kilometers.
On Saturday, the rally will face its third and penultimate stage at 473 kilometers (333 timed) in the county of Huelva and on Sunday the final route will come to La Janda (Cádiz) with 126 kilometers under the clock.
The final stage of the first season of the World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC 2022) will take place two weeks after the Morocco Rally.
The third edition of the Andalucía Rally, initially scheduled for early June, had to be postponed to October due to the high risk of fire in Europe, which lasted throughout the summer.
