The French Sebastien Ogier (Toyota GR Yaris) was the fastest this Thursday in the previous test o’shakedown’ of the 57 RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada/Rally de Españacontested over 4.21 kilometers at Coll de la Teixeta.
Ogier, eight-time world champion, set a time of 2:40.1 minutes. After him the Japanese Takamoto Katsuta qualified, also with Toyota GR Yaris and finished second in 2:41.0; and fellow Frenchman Pierre-Louis Loubet (Ford Puma), third with 2:41.3.
The previous world champion, the 22-year-old Finn Calle Rovanpera (Toyota GR Yaris), finished fourth with 2:41.5, while Spaniard Dani Sordo (Hyundai i20) took thirteenth record (2:53.2).
In the WRC2 category, the best time was set by the Spaniards Pepe Lopez (Hyundai i20 N) with 2:48.8, followed by his compatriot Alexander Cachon (Citroën C3), with 2:52.3. They were eighth and tenth overall.
This afternoon, at 7:00 pm and from the podium located on the Salou promenade, the official start ceremony will be held, after which all vehicles will return to the PortAventura World service park.
The competition starts this Friday with the first stage, consisting of eight timed sections, the last one at 18:02 CET: Els Omells-Maldà (11.05 km), Serra de la Llena (11.79 km), Les Garrigues Altes (22 . 64 km) and Riba-roja (13.98 km).
