Nearly 400 athletes take part in an 8-kilometer test run in a spectacular circuit through the municipality of Abarán
In an extraordinary atmosphere, almost 400 runners took part in the 15th popular race Ruta de la Norias yesterday. The route was extended to 8 kilometers (before it was 7), including the passage through the La Corica water wheel. The organization was carried out by the Athletics Sports Association of Abarán, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia.
In the absolute category, the male champion was Mario Monreal, of the Jumilla club, with a time of 25 minutes, followed by Mohammed Blal and Darío Fernández Morote, both of ADA Abarán, with records of 25.27 and 27.32 respectively. And in the women’s category, Amanda Cano, of UCAM Athleo Cieza, was the winner with a time of 32.33; second was Fátima Ortega Cano, from ADA Abarán, with 32.57, and third was María José Mayor Romero, from Trinatura, with 35.46.
Full of victories for FC Cartagena Algar Surmenor, which this season is a strong candidate for promotion to the highest category of women’s volleyball: the Iberdrola League. Yesterday, the Algars crossed the bottom of the group, the Mazzo Construccion de Almería (0-3), without any major problems.
The three game sets reflected favorable scores of 18-25, 17-25 and 20-25 for Algar Surmenor. This course has increased the level of the team enormously and the hand of coach Pascual Saurín, who is also the absolute national coach, is noticeable. In Almería, all the Algarian players shone, with special mention to Michelle Jones, Leticia Laredo and Cristina Llorens. The team will play the fourth match day of the competition next Saturday (Palacio de Deportes, 7 p.m.) against the penultimate class: Cisneros from Tenerife.
