The UEFA Panel of Technical Observers named the Barça-Bayern Player of the Match in Matthijs de Ligt because, according to UEFA, “he showed an impressive display, showing great physique and strength in individual duels, which are essential in maintaining the Lewandowski. He contributed to a clean sheet for his team and restricted an attacking Barça from shooting on goal.”
The centre-back explained that “it was very difficult. For me, Lewandowski he is the best striker in the world; always be alert against him. He’s brilliant at playing, but all together we made sure he didn’t.”
De Ligt he assessed that “we won 0-3, we played very well and kept a clean sheet. I’m happy to be named Man of the Match; I’m very happy about that.”
