The Olympiafrom Honduras, lost 3-2 this Wednesday Alajuelense, from Costa Rica, in an even game where, however, the local team created more dangerous chances. Olimpia came out quicker in the first half, with Michael Chirinos as their main playmaker on the right and centered in the area for his attacking partners to look to finish off the rival goal.
In the 11th minute, Chirinos, in another great run, crossed for José Pinto to arrive in time to make it 1-0. Two minutes later, on another play by Chirinos, this time from the left, he was brought down in the box by Ian Smith and the referee did not hesitate to punish. Fortune played for Alajuelense as Leonel Moreira saved Brayan Moya’s penalty.
The Costa Rican team did their thing, on the counterattack, but without force, with Johan Venegas appearing in the match. Near the end of the first half, Venegas made the tie 1-1, from a penalty.
In the second half, Olimpia went on the attack again and soon, in the 47th minute, Jorge Álvarez scored the second goal, well done, for the Honduran team led by Argentine Pedro Troglio.
Chirinos was still a nightmare for Alajuelense’s defense, and in the 67th minute, he broke into the area and after beating several defenders, he finished high for another great goal from Olimpia and made it 3-1 . The Alajuelense Sports League did not finish ordering itself and its attempts to shorten the distances remained on the edge of the Olimpia area.
But in a counter attack, Giancarlo González ran into the area to shoot high and with a header to beat the Olimpia goalkeeper and make the score 3-2. The second goal further encouraged Alajuelense, who somehow tried to equalize, but time was not enough.
The final of the Concacaf League will be decided in Costa Rica on November 2, with a slight advantage in favor of Olimpia.
