La Gazzetta: Colbrelli to retire from cycling after cardiac arrest

According to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’, the Italian cyclist for Bahrain Victorious Sonny Colbrelli will announce his retirement from cycling on November 15. He will do it at the age of 32 after suffering in the past Return to Catalonia of cardiac arrest.

Colbrelli suffered an arrhythmia in the Catalan round, after the first stage where he passed out at the finish line of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. He was transferred to the hospital after receiving appropriate care and a defibrillator was implanted. Since then he has not competed again.

So, everything seems to indicate that in two weeks the Italian cyclist will announce his retirement from professional cycling. He would do so with 34 wins behind them. Among them, a stage of Paris-Nice, another of the Tour de Romandie, another of the Dauphiné and the Italian national road title that he won in 2021. Last year was his best year, where, more than all, he was declared European champion and achieved his great victory in Paris-Roubaix at the end of the season.
