Yamileth Mercado defeated ‘Barbie’ by unanimous vote and retained the title

The Mexican Yamileth ‘Yeimi’ Market defeated his countryman this Saturday by unanimous vote Mariana ‘La Barbie’ Juarez for retain his title of super bantamweight world champion from the World Boxing Council.

The fight reached the middle after the fifth round where Mariana kept the initiative and the monarch waited to be hit, but did not do as much damage as he would have liked.

Mariana continued her fight plan to continue, taking advantage in the first minute of the sixth round, however, in the second half of the round, Yeimi was better with good combinations that pushed the veteran back.

Yamileth hit better in the seventh and from then on he closed more against a challenger who insisted on taking the initiative, without limitation due to his age.

Forced to show his status as a champion, ‘Yeimi’ was better in the eighth round, where he was hurt 1-2, hit with his right hand and took advantage against an opponent who did not respond offensively.

Juárez reappeared in the ninth, but again Mercado struck in response, which he did better in the tenth when he won against an opponent who showed signs of fatigue and was no longer defending.

The fight, which was part of a campaign to raise awareness among women during breast cancer awareness month, allowed Yamileth Mercado to reach 20 wins, five by knockout, with three losses, while Juárez added his twelfth loss, third in his last four appearances, with 55 wins, 19 before the limit, and four draws.
