In the Brazilian F1 GP this weekend, we not only have to be attentive to their schedules so as not to miss any detail on what will happen on the track, but we must also remember that this will be the third race of the season in which to compete in a sprint weekend format, something that changes almost everything and makes each day decisive for all riders.
This will be the last race of the year in which this format is contested, due to the last appointment of the course in Abu Dhabi, the format will be the same as before.
Grand Prix format
– Friday:
Free 1 60 minutes
Qualification (specifies sprint grid order). This will be done using the normal ‘qualy’ format, with Q1, Q2 and Q3.
Cars will go to parc fermé. Changes cannot be made.
– Saturday:
free 2without making changes.
qualifying race (This short sleeve will be 100 kilometers. Its purpose is to determine the grid for Sunday. Points will be awarded for the first 8 in descending order -8 for the winner, 7 for second and 6 for third, and so on until reaching a point for the 8th-)
– Sunday: Race. Points will be distributed following the current system: 25 for the winner and one point for the fastest lap
This way, teams will have less time to test and will only have one hour in Free Practice 1 to configure their cars for qualifying. And in Free Practice 2 on Saturday, they won’t be able to change those settings and just test their performance in whatever car they have before the sprint race.
