UCAM Table Tennis Cartagena started the Champions League Women in style. They managed to beat the current champion of the Italian league, ASD Quattro Mori, 0-3 in transalpine countries and in this way they lead their group.
The Cartagena, who qualified directly for the second round after winning the European Cup last season, came on the table when two of the three teams in the group passed.
The match started very well thanks to María Xiao’s first win 1-3 against Andrea Dragoman, silver medalist in doubles in the last European Championship and young promise from Romania. Immediately afterwards, Lily Zhang made it 0-2 by beating Tania Plaian. Dora Madarasz made it 0-3 by beating Offiong Edem, four-time Olympian, 2-3.
Cartagena’s next rival and third member of Group A of the Champions League is the five-time champion of this TTC Berlin Eastside competition. The meeting will take place on November 29 at 6:00 PM on the circuit of the Barrio Cuatro Santos.
