The striker of Nagoya Grampus, Jakub Swierczok, has almost said goodbye to his career as a professional footballer. On October 29, the Asian Confederation announced a four-year ban on the Polish footballer for doping. This was announced by the Japanese league and after the consumption of trimetacididine, a hormonal modulator.
The Polish international was provisionally suspended in December after his A sample tested positive for this illegal substance, following Nagoya’s Asian Champions League quarter-finals loss to South Korea’s Pohang Steelers.
The club said in a statement on its website that the substance was also detected in the 29-year-old player’s B sample and the AFC handed him a four-year ban, which began on December 9, 2021. Nagoya said that they are in negotiations with Swierczok’s lawyer regarding his contract with the club.
The punishment that, as Mundo Deportivo has learned, will not only be extended to the Asian confederation but will also apply to the entire FIFA world and the five remaining confederations that rely on FIFA. The highest body in world football will announce it in the near future. This means that the footballer will not be able to play professional football again until December 9, 2025.
Swierczok played six times for Poland and joined Nagoya in 2021, scoring 12 goals in 21 games in all competitions for the Japanese club before he was suspended. This is an exemplary punishment which the player can now appeal before the FIFA Appeal and the CAS as a last resort.
