The Artés Carrasco will finally host the Copa del Rey match this Sunday, after the RFEF banned the match in Cartagonova
The Copa del Rey match between CD Algar and Celta de Vigo will finally be played this Sunday at 4pm at the Artés Carrasco stadium in Lorca, after the RFEF announced this afternoon that the match could not be played at the Cartagonova due to the poor condition of the field, due to re-seeding this week in the meadow of the Benipila enclosure.
In the absence of any other viable option in the municipality of Cartagena, the Algareña administration contacted the Lorca City Council early in the afternoon, which already offered its pitch a few weeks ago to organize this clash. 4,000 tickets have been sold and it remains to be seen whether all fans are willing to travel to the City of the Sun (96 kilometers from El Algar) this Sunday.
Free buses are provided and this Saturday they are working against the clock so that Artés Carrasco is ready for the game. The Royalverd company, responsible for reseeding the Cartagonova, claimed that the Efesé field was “capable” of hosting the competition, while the city council complained about the “lack of flexibility” of the RFEF, as Algar and Celta had agreed on Friday to postpone the game and play it in December at Cartagonova, with the pitch in perfect condition.
