The American Tony Finau maintained his four-shot lead at the Houston golf tournament on Saturday before the final round on Sunday.
The American, ranked 15th in the world and seeking his fifth USPGA title, he made -15, that is, 195, after 54 holes. He was ahead of the British Ben Taylor.
The weather continued to be difficult on Saturday, with gusty winds and a drop in temperature. The weather wasn’t great on Friday, but Tony Finau came through with an eight-under 62 at Memorial Park Golf Course.
“It was a good round. I don’t think the score says it, but I think I played better than yesterday (Friday)“, he said on Saturday. “You know, yesterday (Friday) I played 62, but this 68 today (Saturday), I think it’s really good considering the conditions,” he added.
He didn’t miss a single fairway and played 16 of 18 greens in regulation, saying the tough conditions sharpened his concentration.
Ben Taylor also said he was very pleased with his play given the weather and remains optimistic ahead of Sunday, despite being four spaces off the leader.
“When these conditions are met is when anything can happen.The 42-year-old, who returned to the greens after a season interrupted by back problems, is looking to move up the world ranking to 75th.
