Ashton United, from the first division of the English Northern Premier League, have submitted an offer to Manchester City to take Norwegian striker Erling Haaland on loan during the Qatar 2022 World Cup break.
Haaland, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions for City since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund last summer, will miss Qatar 2022 as his team failed to qualify. That’s why Ashton United have asked City if they can keep him on a 28-day loan deal.
“Why not?”
“We were looking for a striker, so we thought why not,” England seventh-tier soccer team manager Michael Clegg told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It’s been difficult for any of the teams in our league to build momentum, so I’m sure the addition of this great guy will help us move up the table. I’m sure he’ll be down to business and I expect him to score at least at six goals per game,” added Clegg.
No response from the City
Ashton United say they have yet to receive a response from the reigning Premier League champions.
According to Pep Guardiola, City coach, Haaland will spend a holiday in Marbella and Norway with his family before returning to training with City, who are second in the Premier League.
