Mari Boya will make his F3 debut with MP Motorsport

The Catalan pilot here buoyThe 18-year-old will make the leap to Formula 3 next year with MP Motorsport, the same Dutch team where the youngster from Les completed the Alpine 2022 European Regional Formula taking two top-10s.

“It’s a great feeling to know that this winter I will be preparing for an important next step in my career, the ascent to FIA Formula 3 with MP Motorsport. It’s great to be able to do this with MP. That worked well with the team in 2020 and in the last months, I didn’t hesitate to sign with them for my FIA F3 debut. I’m really looking forward to racing in front of all the Grand Prix teams, and I can’t wait for the first round in Bahrain!”, the young Catalan commented through a statement.

After two seasons in the Alpine championship, Mari already said at the last test that he plans to jump “and I want to continue with MP. I feel very good with them and they have a good team in F3. Now we have something to talk about and to negotiate.”

And the negotiations paid off due to his good performance in the Jerez F3 tests from September 21 to 23. “I felt very good in these tests, as if I adapted better to the car than in Alpine’s European Regional Formula and I think it is important to take a step forward,” he emphasized. His absence from the recent tests that are Alpine’s European Regional Formula at Mugello and Spielberg already reflects that he has almost everything bound to jump.

Boya jumped from karting to the 2020 Formula 4 Spanish Championship, certainly with MP, and achieved runner-up. He jumped into Alpine’s European Regional Formula with Van Amersfoort Racing in 2021 and scored a podium finish. In 2022 the season started in ART, but ended in MP.

“We are very pleased to welcome Mari to our FIA Formula 3 team,” said MP team principal Sander Dorsman.

“Although he is new to FIA F3, he is well known to us. In 2020, his first single-seater season with us in Spanish F4 was really excellent, and it is great to welcome him back to our FRECA team on the course of this season. “

“He has already shown great promise in post-season testing. We now hope to use that as a platform to prepare him for the best possible rookie year in FIA F3,” they explained.
