The Spaniards can rest easy: they hardly notice that the World Cup takes place outside Europe
The 2022 World Cup will be held outside Europe. Eight years after Brazil, Qatar is hosting the World Cup and that means calculating with the schedules. What time are the matches in Spain? The accounts are simple and the time difference will hardly be noticed by the Spaniards.
Qatar’s clock will have to subtract two hours. And FIFA has already succeeded in making it coincide as much as possible with a ‘normal’ schedule in Europe. The matches will be played between 1:00 PM and 10:00 PM in Qatar, i.e. between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM in Spain.
But La Roja’s followers can rest easy. They will see the selection. Spain will make their debut against Costa Rica on Wednesday, the 23rd at 5 PM (Peninsula Time). It will be the only schedule that can disrupt the plans of more than one person who catches you at work. The rest of the games, Germany and Japan, are scheduled in Spain at 8 p.m.
The times of 11:00 are reserved for some matches in the group stage. From the round of 16, these and those disappear at 2 p.m. All matches will be played from 4 p.m. The semi-finals are on weekdays at 8 p.m. and the grand final is on Sunday, December 18 at 4 p.m. in Spain.
