Ulster Rugby announces new deal for Michael Lowery

Date:

Michael Lowery is the latest Ulster rugby player to sign a new three-year contract.

Lowry is following in the footsteps of Robert Balcon and Stuart Moore, whose contract extensions have been announced over the past 48 hours.

The three-star Laurie and Balocon made their Irish debut last year – Lowry played against Italy in the Six Nations Championship last month when he scored twice, and Balocon scored in the 2021 summer series against the United States.

Belfast-born Lowe was named Europe’s Player of the Year 2022 for the county and played a pivotal role in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Toulouse on Saturday.

The 23-year-old said: “I am delighted to be spending time with Alster.

“I’m excited to see what we can achieve in the next few seasons and I definitely want to be part of something special in this group.”

The development will help the province on Saturday at 20 o’clock due to the return leg at home against Toulouse. And Leicester made six points in the first half.

Dan MacFarland, Ulster manager, commented: “Mike has played a vital role in our team, which has grown to a level 15 in testing in recent years.

“This progress was not surprising, it is because of his diligence, perseverance, desire for continuous development and stardom that not many players have.

“He’s had an exceptional season and I know Mike will be at the forefront of what this group of players will achieve in the future.”

Meanwhile, Laurie revealed why he stopped wearing his white Scrum hat this year.

“I initially wore it because my ears were piercing my ears and collapsing,” he said this week at the rugby gym with Andy Judd and Jim Hamilton. “He recovered and I thought, ‘Okay, I’m just wearing a scrum,’ and then I put it in the washer, and I took it out and it just shredded, took it apart, and that was about two days ago.” Northampton (January) match. “I wasn’t going to buy a new one because he was an Australian, an NFL player, one of the rugby league boys.

“So I later decided not to wear it. Before, they thought I was a little hobbit in a white brawler hat!”
