The organizers of the new Team Golf League (TGL)created in collaboration with PGA Tour and that it will start playing in 2024, they announced this Monday its inclusion in the Spanish initiative Jon Rahm and the american Justin Thomas.
TGL is an innovative golf league, in partnership with the PGA Tour, that incorporates advanced technology and live action in prime time.
It will launch from January 2024 with six teams, each consisting of three PGA Tour players. The American Tiger Woods and the northern irish Rory McIlroy they were the first two golfers to commit to competing. This Monday Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas did it.
“I’m excited to join Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas at TGL. As soon as I heard about the league I signed up. It’s great to be a part of something that combines my interest in technology with the opportunity to introduce golf to a wider global audience”, Rahm himself wrote on social media.
Thomas also told the networks that he is “excited to be a part of this special group that is bringing golf to a wider audience.”
TGL combines a virtual course with a state-of-the-art short game complex and “offers a high-energy, high-tech experience for fans, who will sit greenside,” its organizers report.
The inaugural season of the TGL will begin in January 2024 with a 15-game regular season, followed by playoffs and a championship final.
