A group in favor of keeping boxing in the Olympic Games. Appearing before the IOC

Date:

“Not in Games without boxing”: with this motto plastered on their t-shirts and their banners in a small group of men and women presented this Monday outside the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne (Switzerland), in conjunction with the start of a meeting of its Executive Committee.

About three dozen people participated in the protest, which was later attended by the American, Olympic runner-up in Seoul’88, Roy Jones Jr, in a car decorated with the same slogan.

The IOC suspended the International Boxing Association (IBA) in 2019 due to its administrative and arbitration irregularities.

This sport is included in the program of the Paris 2024 Games, but for now it is not included in the Los Angeles 2028 Games, because the organization does not comply with the conditions of cleanliness and transparency required by the IOC for its readmission.

The last controversial episode carried out by the federation was the re-election in May of the president of the IBA, the Russian Umar Kremlevafter the suspension on the eve of the election of opposition candidate Boris van der Vorst, Dutch.

Van del Vorts appealed to the TAS, which agreed with him regarding the unfairness of his suspension, but the IBA assembly decided that there was no reason to repeat the election.
