Tite: “You have to have the courage to play like us”

Date:

Tite, the Brazil coach, puffed out his chest on Thursday for the fun game his team showed by making sure that “you have to have the guts” to do it with the “pressure” they are under to win a World Cup, while reiterating that their dances are not “destroying anyone” and that they are part of “Brazilian culture”.

“Playing like this is the identity of Brazilian football. We give them the confidence to give the best of themselves. This is our nature. With so much pressure, you have to have the courage to play like that, even if you risk criticism. And I’ve experienced it, but That’s the kind of football I believe in, although there is criticism if you don’t win the title. But this is what we believe,” Tite said at a press conference.

“This is not my team. This is the Brazilian team, which I have the responsibility of coaching. I am sorry and I will not comment on people who do not know the history and culture of Brazil. Dancing is part of Brazilian culture, and we don’t look down on anyone. It is our way of being. And in cultural terms, we can help the education of the boys”, he commented.

“I have a connection with the young generation, with some players who could be my grandchildren. I am 61 years old. If I have to dance, I will dance. In a very subtle way, this is not my profile. I asked them to hide me. I have to train more, I know,” joked the coach.

A look ahead of the match against Croatia this Friday, which will open the quarterfinals of Qatar 2022, and where he once again sent his best wishes to Pelé while hoping that his figure “inspires” people who value “unity, respect, acceptance of differences and coexistence”.

“From Croatia I emphasize the very high technical quality in its three midfielders; although it is also a team with collective technical quality, physical capacity and persistence. We recognize the virtues of the rival, but we are committed to repeating our stopping performance, playing with excellence”, he analyzed.
