With goals from their numbers Endrick and John Kennedy, Brazil won 2-0 and was eliminated Colombia this Friday in the final match of the third day of Group A of the Pre-Olympic, relegating the coffee growers to last place in the area where they are bottom with no points.
Brazil, with little football but plenty of quality, controlled a Colombia that tried to go on the attack because it needed to win, but they put their feet on the ground early. In the 25th minute of the match played at the Brígido Iriarte stadium in Caracas, Endrick took advantage of a rebound from goalkeeper Sebastián Guerra and made it 1-0 for Ramón Menezes’ team.
In the second half, Colombia tried to get into the game but with no luck they conceded 2-0 in the 83rd minute when John Kennedy took advantage of Gabriel’s pass and an empty goal sealed the game.
A sad farewell for the Colombians who, without points and with two games, see Ecuador at the top of the group with 7, Brazil second with 6 and a game less and Venezuela with 2, after two outlet and two draws; Bolivia was also eliminated with three games and one point.
La Verde has just one game left, the last matchday, February 1st against Colombia. The tournament provides two direct berths to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On the fourth day of Group A, next Monday the 29th, La Tri will face Brazil and Colombia will play against Venezuela.
