Lionel Scaloni, the coach of Argentina, was proud of the fight his players made in the intense rivalry against the Netherlands.
For the albiceleste coach, his team did not deserve to reach the painful penalty shootout.
“This team has a spirit that can face the situation at all times. From my point of view, we didn’t deserve to go to penalties, but even so, the team continues to show its face”, highlighted Scaloni.
The Argentine coach has always believed in qualifying, despite the fact that the Netherlands was very successful in defeat. “We know that with extra time, playing our football, we can change the result.”
He had words of praise for Leo Messi. “Today Leo (Messi) showed that he is the best of all time.”
Scaloni also argued that Argentina chose an attacking game even though the rivalry was very tight. “We always think about the attack, beyond what they suggested. The game was so close that we struggled especially in the second half. However, we are satisfied,” he said.
